Armie literally can"t take his eyes from timmy. This movie is about a retreat, but I can"t deny the fact of some of the most heroic moments in WWII combat arenas, like the civilian boat owners going into harms way to ferry home their troops, the very few Spitfire pilots grossly outnumbered but fighting on to the end, and the one pilot that continued protecting his brothers on the ground, even when he no longer had fuel in the tank. Another amazing gesture was from Commander Branagh who stayed behind honoring the sacrifice of the Frech soldiers that wouldn"t abandon or surrender their fighting positions until all the Britt"s were safely away. Vive La France! Kind of brings back the speech by King Harry, how does it go. gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispin"s day.

I have been waiting so long for this review Im glad to see it and Im glad he loved this film and Im so glad hes putting it out here for more of his audience to discover. I hope everyone is fortunate enough to watch this movie. I read the book before watching it and I was truly blown away which is recommended BUT reading it isnt necessary. Since it wont be playing in many places I do have a link to watch it if anyone would like it.

I. Need. To. See. This. Movie. Right. NOW. The picture of Timothee Chalamet is in his shirt. How lovely.??. One of my favorite movies ever and I"m 60. I wept with gratitude for the courage and sacrifice the British made that was indispensable to the defeat of the Nazi"s. We owe so much to them for resisting with such complete commitment.

The Disaster Artist would have been my pick, but Call Me By Your Name is a damn good movie. 1:18:46 subtitles say there is a jet engine roaring but the Me 262 the first jet fighter to see combat had its first flight in 1942 and the evacuation of Dunkirk happened in 1940. Stunning movie. Ive seen it 4 times. Its a movie that hangs on to you and wont let go. You nailed in that you feel as if you are present and privileged to see into the dynamics of their relationship. I thought the same thing about the flies... I think it was partially the realism of the locale but more so a nod to the fleeting moments between the two or even a nod to the fact the we, the audience, were the flies. Acting was superb. Hammer and Chalamet are breathtaking in their roles. Watch the press videos of them together and you can see the chemistry off screen. Both have said that this movie changed them for the better.

Characters are one dimensional sensationalistic nonsense which almost anyone could have created and I personally found them boring. You apparently missed the deeper plot where the briefcase holds the soul of Marsellus Wallace. (The band-aid on his neck is apparently where it "came out" and the combination to the briefcase is "666" further showing he sold his soul to the devil) Ill agree it wasn"t the best plot-driven movie, but there are worse movies out there. I just hope people arnt or weren"t influenced by your review as it was lacking in any real view on the movie. There are always deeper stories than the bright pictures you are seeing on the screen. Granted, they do make movies sell, but its usually whats inside that makes it a good movie.

If the film is making the point that life is random and full of coincidence, I think it"s also trivializing the consequences of that randomness. Much more than trivializing the important things and importanizing the trivial, it mostly just trivializes everything, covering it all under a big it"s all good blanket. Everything seems to work out in the end. Jules and Vincent don"t die when they let their guard down and get shot at, Mia doesn"t die from OD, Marcellus doesn"t find out about it, not only does Bonnie never find out about Marvin, but Jimmy gets a seemingly hefty restitution from Wolf for using the blankets, and Pumpkin and Honeybunny rob the one diner with the heroes, but they keep their lives and everyone"s money. Jules even lets them take his money before getting his wallet back. The most severe consequence and the one thing that would have made the biggest impact is when Vincent dies, which happens halfway through, but then we never have to deal with that loss. It only serves as a minor point in the story of Butch dodging death and ultimately getting away with it, just like the rest of the characters. Not even having to run away from consequences, mind you. Running into Marcellus and ending up in the basement of the shittiest pawn shop in LA, he gets to watch his pursuer (the major mob boss he boldly double crossed) get raped, then he gets a pardon from him right after to go live his life without fear of getting hunted down. And he gets a sweet chopper. Then we"re back to following Vince around to finish the movie, literally as if nothing happened. It"s like the film is saying that everything is random, but shit will end up working in your favor. That is, if you"re a dickhead criminal/junkie or have the balls to try to fuck over the dickheadest of criminals. Or just fuck him, as in Mia"s case. Everybody else is more likely to randomly get their head blown off.

Imagine reading this script and thinking yep, i"m going in. His bad acting actually turned out to be absolutely perfect for this scene, it fits his dorky character exactly. Maybe it was actually good acting after all... It has to be one of my favourite scenes of all time. I just wish I could unsee it and re watch it again for the first time. I hope you gave this watch a good cleaning. Little Man. This movie is my favorite movie because it has amazing writing, excellent acting, the director is the best of his generation, and the cooperation and wit is spectacular. everyone can relate to these people and the situational irony and suspense ties in perfectly. i like how these people that have never met, cross paths, and connect. Quentin Terentino at his finest with this script and his directing skills, John Travolta"s career is reborn with this film, Samuel L. Jackson was perfect for his role, Uma Thurman great as always, Bruce Willis plays the tough all American as usual, and Ving Rahmes is as always the ruthless boss, one other great thing about this film is that is is one of the last things to come out of Hollywood that wasn"t work-shopped and commercially exploited till the point that there is no personality or originality to the story this is definitely one of the best films ever, without a doubt, and my personal favorite of all time. enjoy.

I have a degree in Film but frankly this is the best analysis I"ve seen about Pulp Fiction. Everyone else seems to imply that it"s important without knowing exactly why. This will amount to my 3 hour class tonight. You know what they say, college is rough.

Trying anything, the FBI sends a young trainee, Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) to chat up an especially diabolical serial killer now in custody, Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins. The hope is the two will hit it off well enough so that Lecter will help with nailing down Bill"s persona. But what starts out unsettling enough for Starling soon becomes a real journey into fear.
"Silence Of The Lambs" has a great story, diabolical atmospherics, and a stark visual template that pulls you in. But two things work for it beyond these elements.
The first, which is widely commented upon, is how everyone in this film is working outside their comfort zones, all the way through to the audience. Director Jonathan Demme did quirky, humanistic comedies centered around redemptive themes. Foster didn"t play cops. Hopkins didn"t play psychos or big-screen villains, unless it was a historical figure like Hitler. Handing such creative people different hats and making them work allowed for fresher, vital impressions.
Second, and more critical, was the way "Silence" was cut. Looking at the "Collector"s Edition" DVD reveals scenes trimmed or edited out entirely, employing plot elements from Thomas Harris" source novel. A couple of dropped scenes between Starling and FBI lead investigator Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) are particularly involving, but the overall subplot they work to establish, about Crawford"s dispute with a nasty superior and Starling"s own line-crossing of FBI strictures, only obscure what the audience cares most about, which is the relationship between Hannibal and Starling and also the ongoing case of Buffalo Bill.
The first of these is really where "Silence" best delivers. So much of the movie"s cultural legacy rests in the exchanges between Starling and Lecter as written by Ted Tally and delivered by Foster and Hopkins.
It"s a tense cat-and-mouse situation, not devoid of humor or pathos but focused relentlessly on the core issue of stopping Buffalo Bill. What motivates Lecter is not sympathy but his interest in Starling, both as someone he rather likes and as a worthy opponent. "People will say we"re in love, he jokes at one point, and it"s funny because it"s kind of true in a twisted way the movie is not afraid to develop, even if the idea of an actual relationship between the two seems absurd, at least in this iteration.
While known as a slasher film, violence is handled very well. We see as many murders actually take place here as we did in "Psycho, which is not that many. More is done by showing less. Hitchcock would have approved.
Some aspects of the film keep me from declaring it perfect. The way Hannibal makes his big play in Tennessee is too much of the Hollywood- magic-villain variety, while Demme emphasizes Starling"s discomfort as a woman in a man"s world in a way that comes off dated and pedantic today. Howard Shore"s music adds to the atmosphere but never gels as anything with a character of its own.
But when you watch the movie, all you care about is what happens to Starling and what Lecter could do to her. And that is exactly what should happen. The end result is a very involving, one-of-a-kind experience.
